New via ferrata - Furcela de Saslonch

In autumn 2021, a modern via ferrata was set up in the Val Gardena Dolomites: »Furcela de Saslonch«
The goal was not to reach the summit, but rather to make the path a fascinating experience. In the Sassolungo group, a rock structure was found that had not previously been of interest to alpinists and where small climbing routes already led. And since this hitherto unnoticed ridge is located directly next to the forcella Sassolungo, access from the nearby Toni Demetz Hut can be reached in about 15 minutes. If you want to do it without the cable car and reach the entrance by foot, the ascent from the Sella Pass takes about 45 minutes.
The via ferrata “Furcela de Saslonch” - which stands for “Forcella Sassolungo” in Ladin - has a climbing length of more than 500 metres, with varied climbing over ribbons and ramps, as well as some steep ascents, overcoming just under 200 metres in altitude.

Climbing in the Dolomites

The Dolomites are not only known for their magnificent mountains, they are also one of the most beautiful and unique climbing areas in the Alps and a true adventure park for climbing enthusiasts. From spring to late autumn you can climb and mountaineer in the Dolomites - even in winter, in the climbing halls and also outdoors with ice climbing. And because climbing has to be learned, the numerous alpine schools offer various courses - for adults and children - in which the basic knowledge of the use of ropes, carabiners, safety devices and climbing techniques is conveyed in the best possible way.Experience climbing in the Dolomites, discover the most beautiful classics in the area of climbing, the coolest via ferrata and, if the weather isn't playing along, the most beautiful climbing halls.
